Lowther staff and students have been invited by Independent Schools Victoria (ISV) to feature in a video presentation outlining exemplary practice in teaching Japanese.

The short film, which may be viewed on the ISV website, highlights the strategies Lowther Hall has implemented for students to make the transition from Junior School to Secondary Japanese, including the establishment of an advanced stream in Year 7.

Focus was also placed on Lowther Hall providing recommended time allocations per week for LOTE and the school’s provision of a pathway for students to continue studying Japanese in Senior School, which recognises their prior learning and does not start from scratch.

The Senior School structure allows for some students to study VCE Japanese Units 3 and 4 in Year 11 and advance to University Japanese in Year 12.
