School Council

The Lowther Hall School Council oversees the ongoing success of the School through considered planning and strategic decision-making.

The School Council comprises representatives from the parent body, Old Grammarians, Anglican church and others, non-affiliated, who together bring a balance of expertise and wisdom to the deliberations and decision-making of the Council.

School Council

A past parent, Mrs Lindy Golding joined the School Council in 2015 and was elected Chair commencing June 2021. With her background in law, she has been providing valuable advice since 2013 as a member and former Chair of the Governance and Strategy Committee, particularly with her contribution to constitutional matters. She was a partner in an international law firm based in London for many years before returning to Melbourne where she continues to lecture in Law at the University of Melbourne.




Ms Yvonne Bradley joined the School Council in 2012. Yvonne serves on the Governance and Strategy Committee as a committee member, chairing it for some years. A former School Principal for 18 years, she is a member of various boards and is currently working as an educational consultant in independent schools around the country.





A past parent, Mr Peter Cannan became a member of the School Council in 2006 and is the immediate past Chair (2013 to mid-2021), having served as Treasurer prior to holding that office. He is a Chartered Accountant with over 40 years’ experience and is currently working as Chief Executive Officer at PKF Australia. Peter is a member of the Assets, Finance and Risk Committee and is also a member of the Foundation Board. Peter was honoured by the School in January 2023 for his 15 years of continual service as a member of the School Council.





Past parent, Mr Lorne Cole’s work on the School Council since joining in 2007 includes a major role chairing the Lowther Hall Foundation. Lorne’s career is in the aviation industry. Now semi-retired, Lorne continues to provide aero-medical services to hospitals engaged in organ transplants and the retrieval of sick and injured Australians from overseas. Lorne was honoured by the School in January 2023 for his 15 years of continual service as a member of the School Council.





Mrs Nicole Jones joined the School Council at the start of 2019. The focus of much of Nicole’s career has been as an architect for education projects, including for many private schools and universities. This experience has enabled Nicole to provide invaluable contributions to the work of the Assets, Finance and Risk Committee of which she has been a member since 2017. Nicole’s two daughters have recently completed their learning journey at Lowther Hall. Nicole runs her own architectural practice.






Ms Emma King OAM also joined the School Council at the start of 2019. She has been serving on the Governance and Strategy Committee since mid-2017, assuming the Chair in August 2022. With a background in education, industrial relations and social services, Emma headed VCOSS as CEO for 10 years until recently heading a new national not for profit organisation advancing workforce development and education. She is a parent currently with one daughter at Lowther Hall and one daughter who completed her Lowther Hall journey in 2021. Emma was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in June 2023 for her service to the community.


Ms Katherine Lorenz joined the School Council in June 2023 and has been serving on the Governance and Strategy Committee since 2022, her experience as a lawyer providing an ideal fit. Katherine is a current parent with a daughter in the Senior School. 


Bishop Kate Prowd joined the School Council in June 2023. Knowing the School well (as the immediate past President of the School Council while Bishop of the Oodthenong episcopate until May 2023) she brings a depth of experience and knowledge from her various roles and networks. Alongside her theological studies and Arts degrees, Bishop Kate has a Masters in Psychology (Clinical). She has a dual vocation as bishop and clinical psychologist. Bishop Kate is currently the Bishop for the Monomeeth Melbourne Diocesan episcopate, responsible for the discernment, formation and training of candidates for ordination.


Ms Tania Sharpe joined the School Council at the beginning of 2019. She provides a valued voice as an Old Grammarian (Class of 1990) and current parent of one daughter at the School and one daughter who graduated from the School in 2022. Tania brings experience from within the education sector and is the School Council representative on the Parents and Friends’ Association Committee.


A current parent with a daughter in Year 11, Mr Ajay Singh joined the School Council in May 2024. He has been a member of the Foundation Board since November 2021 and the Assets Finance and Risk Sub Committee since 2023. Well qualified, Ajay is a senior risk management and measurement professional with over twenty years’ experience in banking, professional services and wealth management. He has worked in a variety of banks and consulting firms.


Mr Andrew Yap is a current parent with one daughter at the School and one who graduated in 2022. Andrew joined the School Council in 2019 and chairs the Assets, Finance and Risk Committee which he has been a member of since 2017. Andrew is an investment professional with specialisation in research and consulting. He has worked across a number of industries including funds management, financial advice, chartered accounting and education.
