Governance

Lowther Hall Anglican Grammar School is a not-for-profit organisation registered with the ACNC and is incorporated as a Company limited by guarantee. It is governed by the School Council.

Our School Council plays a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of our school. Comprising dedicated volunteers with diverse professional backgrounds, the Council includes individuals who bring a wealth of expertise and a deep commitment to our community. Many have been connected to Lowther Hall for years, providing invaluable continuity and insight. Their shared passion for education and the School’s vision ensures thoughtful governance and a focus on creating the best possible environment for our students.

Mrs Linden (Lindy) Golding

Chair of School Council

Parent of a member of the Year 12 Class of 2018, Mrs Lindy Golding joined the School Council in 2015 and was elected Chair commencing June 2021. With her background in law, she has been providing valuable advice since 2013 as a member of the Governance and Strategy Committee, particularly with her contribution to constitutional matters. She was a partner in an international law firm based in London for many years before returning to Melbourne where she now lectures in Law at the University of Melbourne.

Ms Judith Abbott

A current parent of a daughter in Senior School, Ms Judith Abbott is a new appointee to the School Council, commencing at the start of 2025. Her Chief Executive Officer role with Carers Victoria draws on her extensive experience in the not for profit sector in governance and policy and advocacy within government as well as compliance and risk management. Judith joined the Governance & Strategy Committee at the start of 2024.

Mrs Yvonne Bradley

Mrs Yvonne Bradley joined the School Council in 2012 and served as Secretary until 2021. Yvonne chaired the Policy and Planning Committee (now titled Governance and Strategy Committee) until November 2018 and continues to serve on it as a committee member. A former School Principal for 18 years she is a member of various boards and currently provides a wealth of experience working as an educational consultant in independent schools around the country.

Mr Peter Cannan

A past parent whose daughter graduated from Lowther Hall in 2010, Mr Peter Cannan became a member of the School Council in 2006 and is the immediate past Chair of the School Council, having served as Treasurer prior to that office. He is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years’ experience and during 2020 was working as Chief Operating Officer at Russell Kennedy Lawyers. Peter was formerly General Manager at Pitcher Partners. He is a member of the Assets, Finance and Risk Committee and is also a member of the Foundation Board.

Mr Lorne Cole

Chair of the Lowther Hall Foundation

Past parent, Mr Lorne Cole’s work on the School Council since joining in 2007 has included chairing the Lowther Hall Foundation. Lorne’s career is in the aviation industry. He continues to provide aero-medical services to hospitals engaged in organ transplants and the retrieval of sick and injured Australians from overseas. His two daughters are members of the Year 12 classes of 2014 and 2011 respectively.

Ms Nicole Jones

A past parent of two daughters who graduated from Lowther Hall in 2023 and 2020, Ms Nicole Jones joined the School Council at the start of 2019. The focus of much of Nicole’s career has been as an architect for education projects, including for many private schools and universities. This experience has enabled Nicole to provide an expert voice into the work of the Assets, Finance and Risk Committee of which she has been a member since 2017, having first joined the Development Committee in September 2015. She is a valuable contributor to regular meetings held with the School’s architect and currently runs her own small architectural practice.

Ms Jo Lim

A current parent of two daughters, one a current student and one who graduated in 2022, Ms Jo Lim is a new appointee to the School Council, commencing at the start of 2025. With a legal background, she has built a career in the public and for-purpose sectors and is currently Chief Executive Officer of the Victorian Water Industry Association. Jo has been serving on the Lowther Hall Foundation Board since 2023 and during 2024 joined the First Nations Plan Committee.

Bishop Kate Prowd

The immediate past President of the Lowther Hall School Council while Bishop of the Oodthenong region of the Melbourne Anglican diocese until May 2023, Bishop Kate Prowd joined the School Council in June 2023. Knowing the School well she brings a depth of experience and knowledge from her various roles and networks. Alongside her theological studies and Arts degrees, Bishop Kate has a Masters in Psychology (Clinical). Bishop Kate is currently the Bishop of the Monomeeth Melbourne Diocesan episcopate.

Ms Tania Sharpe

A past parent of two daughters, one who recently graduated in 2024 and one in 2022, Ms Tania Sharpe joined the School Council at the beginning of 2019. She provides a valued voice as an Old Grammarian and brings experience from within the education sector. Tania sits on the First Nations Plan Committee and is the School Council representative on the Parents and Friends’ Association Committee.

Mr Ajay Singh

A current parent with a daughter in Year 12, Mr Ajay Singh joined the School Council in May 2024. He has been a member of the Foundation Board since November 2021 and the Assets Finance and Risk Sub Committee since 2023. Well qualified, Ajay is a senior risk management and measurement professional with over twenty years’ experience in banking, professional services and wealth management. He has worked in a variety of banks and consulting firms.

Mr Andrew Yap

A current parent with a daughter in Year 3 and a daughter who graduated from Lowther Hall in 2022, Mr Andrew Yap joined the School Council at the start of 2019 and chairs the Assets, Finance and Risk Committee of which he has been a member since 2017. Andrew is an investment professional with specialisation in research and consulting. He has worked across a number of industries including funds management, financial advice, chartered accounting and education.
