Enrolment

Lowther Hall is an open entry girls’ school from 4-year old Kindergarten to Year 12

Families are welcome to apply for enrolment to Lowther Hall at any time. Applications are processed on a date-received basis, therefore the earlier families register their daughter the greater the probability of receiving the offer of a place. Priority is given to siblings of current students, daughters and granddaughters of past students, and girls who are members of an Anglican parish. Registrations are then processed in date order.

Enrolment Meeting

Each prospective student will be interviewed by the Principal, or a Head of School as her representative, as part of the enrolment process.

4

Offer of Enrolment

A time sensitive offer in writing is made by the Principal at which time we will request payment of an enrolment fee of a non-refundable amount of $2,000. This fee secures your daughter's place at the School.

5

Orientation

All new students are invited to participate in an orientation day or program. The transition process to Lowther Hall is thoughtfully designed to ensure every new student feels welcomed and prepared for their journey at our school. As part of this warm welcome, all new students (and staff) receive a special Lowther teddy bear.

Lowther Hall offers places approximately two years prior to entry for Year 7 and 12 months prior for all other years.

We encourage you to place your child on a waiting list for your preferred year of entry, even if it is currently full.

Casual vacancies do arise occasionally, often just before the start of the school year.

Enrolment Frequently Asked Questions

What is the entry policy?

Entry to the school is primarily determined by the date a family submits an application for enrolment. However, priority is given to siblings of current students, daughters and granddaughters of past students, and girls who are members of an Anglican parish. For Kindergarten entry, preference is given to students intending to continue through primary and secondary years. Beyond these considerations, places are offered in chronological order based on the application date.

Why a girls' school?

At Lowther Hall, we believe in the immense value of a girls-only education. Countless studies have consistently shown that single-sex education provides girls with the greatest advantage over their peers in co-educational settings. They graduate with higher ‘mental toughness’, more confidence and higher academic results than girls in co-educational setting, even taking into account socio economic status. Ultimately, having a girls-only setting provides our students with the space to explore their identity without limitations so that they can be more fearless, more independent, more determined and ultimately more powerful.

We are proud partners with the International Coalition of Girls' Schools. Please view their website for more information.
