By nurturing these values, we provide a strong foundation that not only supports their personal growth but also contributes to their academic excellence.
The ethos of our motto non nobis solum, ‘not for ourselves alone’, guides our interactions with each other and the world beyond our walls. In order to actively demonstrate acts of non nobis solum, we foster a strong sense of social responsibility in our girls by supporting them to build charitable partnerships with a local, national and global reach. Doing so arms our students with practical and tangible ways to live out our Anglican identity. Having empathy for the plight of others sets our girls up to build meaningful connections with the world and understand their ability to shape it.
At Lowther Hall, we believe in the immense value of a girls-only education. Countless studies have consistently shown that single-sex education provides girls with the greatest advantage over their peers in co-educational settings. They graduate with higher ‘mental toughness’, more confidence and higher academic results than girls in a co-educational setting, even taking into account socio economic status. Ultimately, having a girls-only setting provides our students with the space to explore their identity without limitations so that they can be more fearless, more independent, more determined and ultimately more powerful.
The VRQA Minimum Standards for School Registration includes a standard relating to schools' adherence to Australian democratic principles and practice.
This standard is as follows:
The programs of, and teaching in, a school must support and promote the principles and practice of Australian democracy, including a commitment to:
Lowther Hall Anglican Grammar School, together with all Australian citizens, recognises the freedom to pursue religious beliefs and to follow a religious view that is founded upon those beliefs. We commit to the fundamental freedoms of speech and association for all Australians so long as those freedoms are not used to subvert the rule of law.
We acknowledge the right of our elected Governments, their departments and officers to require certain conditions relating to the programs and teaching practices in our School.
We acknowledge that all persons are entitled to be treated equally before the law and, as far as it is within our capacity to do so, we endeavour to treat all members of our community with equity and fairness.
We are committed to living in peace with our fellow Australians irrespective of differences in faith, race or culture, and are committed to the social value of respect for all persons. Lowther Hall is open to families who seek an education based on Christian principles and standards in the Anglican tradition.
