All school fees and available Government Grants paid to Lowther Hall directly support the day-to-day provision of exemplary education for our girls. Any development of the School's physical facilities; resources and learning technologies is directly (and only) supported by donations to the School's five Trust Funds. Donations therefore ensure that our School can continue to provide not only modern and state-of-the-art facilities and resources, but that our future as a leading education provider remains secure.
The legacy of giving was begun by Edward Cole (former owner of our Mansion, 'Earlsbrae Hall'). The in-part gift of the Mansion to the Anglican Church was a generosity that enabled Archbishop Henry Lowther Clarke (our Founder) to realise his vision for an Anglican Girls' School in Essendon. Over 100 years later, the Lowther Hall community is still generously giving, so that the School can continue to flourish.
Donations to the School have funded:
A donation to the Lowther Hall and Earlsbrae Building Trust helps to fund important capital works and infrastructure and provides Lowther Hall Anglican Grammar School the opportunity to offer a modern and purpose-built learning environment. Donations to this fund are tax-deductible.
A donation to the Lowther Hall Foundation and Endowment Trust will enable the School to apply funds to areas of greatest need and is an investment into the long-term future of Lowther Hall. Gifts made to the endowment trust are invested and the interest generated from these investments is used for projects at the School, as identified through the Strategic Plan. Donations to this fund are tax-deductible.
A donation to the Lowther Hall Scholarship Trust will enable us to continue to offer vital scholarships that attract a range of motivated and talented students. A key direction highlighted in our Strategic Plan is a range of scholarships to be offered to indigenous students and students from refugee backgrounds. Donations to this fund are tax-deductible.
A donation to the Lowther Hall Library Trust will ensure that students of all ages have access to not only the latest and most up-to-date books, but resources and research tools that service the provision of education across the wide range of subjects offered at Lowther Hall. This includes resources required for Science, Food Studies, and Visual Arts. Donations to this fund are tax-deductible.
To celebrate our 40th anniversary of the Rowing Program at Lowther Hall, we launched a $10,000 fundraising campaign to invest in the upgrade of essential equipment to enhance training, improve performance, and ensure every rower has access to the best resources to reach their full potential:
Our community support for the campaign was fantastic, and we exceeded our target with $12,350 raised!
The First Nations and Refugee (Centenary) Scholarships were established in 2020 to celebrate the School’s 100th anniversary. To fund these a special Giving Day Appeal was held in 2022 with a tremendous $400,000 raised by our community. Subsequently two scholarship recipients eagerly began their journey at Lowther Hall. Now, as they enter into their final years of schooling, it is time to plan the fundraising journey for the next two students to be supported by the First Nations and Refugee (Centenary) Scholarships. Our first step in 2024 was to raise $60,000 in June, this target was achieved!
In 2023 our community generously donated $80,000 towards the installation of new solar panels at Lowther Hall, to support our ongoing mission of the reduction of our operational carbon footprint. 170 430W panels have now been installed on the Joan M Garde Cultural Centre with 2 Sungrow inverters and 12kwh lithium ion battery. They look to save up to 410kws of energy per day during the summer period!
