Community

The connectedness and sense of community within our parent body are integral to the vibrant culture at Lowther Hall.

Parents play an essential role in shaping the school’s environment, not only through their support of academic and extracurricular activities but also by fostering a strong, collaborative spirit. By actively engaging in school events, initiatives, and volunteer opportunities, parents help create a welcoming atmosphere where every student feels supported and valued. This shared commitment to the wellbeing and success of our students strengthens the bonds within the school community and ensures that Lowther Hall remains a place where families, students, and staff work together towards common goals.

Connectedness

Parents and Friends' Association

The Lowther Hall Parents and Friends' Association (PFA) is a dynamic group led by a Committee, which includes dedicated parent volunteers from Blinkbonnie House, Raymond House, and Senior School, along with a member of the School Council. The Committee meets regularly with the Principal to plan and coordinate a range of opportunities for parents to connect, fostering a strong sense of community and involvement within the school.

The objectives of the PFA are to foster a sense of friendship between the school and its parent body, support the school's fundraising efforts, and cultivate loyalty while strengthening the community spirit at Lowther Hall. Through these efforts, the PFA plays a crucial role in enriching the school experience for all students and families.

Attendance at School Events

A vibrant annual calendar.

Families and the broader community often come together in celebration of shared traditions, learning or achievement. For parents, these events are not only an opportunity to support their daughters but also to connect socially with other families and deepen their sense of belonging. Whether attending performances, sporting events, or community celebrations, parents help create a warm, inclusive atmosphere that strengthens relationships and enriches the life of the school.

Walking School Bus

Led by our dedicated volunteer parent supervisors.

Our WSB is a wonderful service that is provided in partnership between the School and the Moonee Valley City Council. It is a program designed to instil a habit of walking to or part of the way to school with a view to promoting a healthy lifestyle as well as reducing and easing traffic congestion. Our girls learn through their WSB participation that their choice to walk to school is a sustainable one, taking more cars off the roads and therefore reducing our impact on the environment. Enthusiastic parent volunteers who run the Walking School Bus each Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, demonstrate their sense of ‘non nobis solum’ (not for ourselves alone) to our girls and this role modelling really inspires a wonderful sense of community for everyone involved.
