POSITION OVERVIEW

The successful applicant for Head of Humanities will be an experienced leader and a role model in the teaching of humanities. They will demonstrate extensive knowledge of science curriculum, learning and pedagogy. They will be an advocate for the Humanities program and display professional leadership, management and passion for their work. They will demonstrate the ability to bring vision to their area, build a culture of success, enjoyment of their subject by students and to ensure high standards of teaching and learning. They will also be committed to their own learning and professional development.

This position includes the responsibility for the pastoral care of students and participation in the co-curricular programs.

Reports to: Deputy Head of Senior School – Teaching & Learning

Direct Reports: Faculty Members

Key Relationships: Deputy Principal, Head of Senior School, Deputy Heads of Senior School, Faculty members and Year Level Coordinators

Purpose: The Head of Faculty works within Senior School to ensure that every teacher within the Faculty is delivering the highest possible quality of teaching to bring about academic growth and a positive experience for every girl undertaking a subject within the Faculty. They also ensure that relevant processes are maintained at a high standard by all faculty members.

Environment: This is a 2 year fixed term position of leadership that comes with a time allowance calculated from the number of full time staff assigned to faculty teaching each year. The remainder of the full time load is made up of classroom teaching.

Commencing Term 1 2026 until the conclusion of the 2027 academic year.
