Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA)

Teachers and School Assistants at Lowther Hall operate under the Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA)which was negotiated for the commencement of 2024. Some key aspects to our EBA:

Low face-to-face ratio

Our Enterprise Bargaining Agreement reflects our commitment to supporting staff wellbeing and effective teaching by including a lower number of required face-to-face teaching hours than government schools.
  • In our Senior School, a Full Time Teacher (classroom) will teach a maximum of 16 hours and 30 minutes (Face-to-Face Teaching) per week. (Victorian Government Schools Agreement 2024 directs a maximum of 18.5 hours.)
  • In our Junior School, a Full Time Teacher (classroom) will teach a maximum of 19 hours and 10 minutes (Face-to-Face Teaching) per week. (Victorian Government Schools Agreement 2024 directs a maximum of 22.5 hours.)

Salary Packaging

As a not-for-profit organisation, Lowther Hall staff benefit from salary packaging opportunities to reduce their taxable income.
  • Staff can forgo pre-tax salary to pay for items such as cars, mortgage, and everyday living expenses.
  • Lowther Hall connects employees to leading company LeasePlus.

Feedback & Recognition

Our Feedback and Recognition Program was developed after consultation with our staff. The cyclical process provides opportunities to celebrate the wonderful work that all of our staff undertake, and to set goals for the coming year.
  • The process provides annual opportunities for feedback and recognition.
  • A key aim is to acknowledge and celebrate the wonderful work undertaken by all staff.
  • Employees are assisted to set goals for the next 12 months, focusing on future growth and development.

Professional Learning & Development

As an organisation that has learning as its core business, it follows that the Professional Learning of staff is a priority!
  • All staff are provided with the opportunity to complete First Aid [Level 2] qualifications, as well as provided regular Professional Learning sessions on the appropriate responses to medical events such as anaphylactic and diabetes reactions.  
  • All teaching and learning staff are provided with Professional Learning days and workshops each term.
  • The School will fund professional development for staff that will assist them to carry out their role with increasing confidence and skill.

Employee Assistance Program

At Lowther Hall, we prioritise the wellbeing of our staff by providing access to professional support services through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Confidential Support: Staff and their immediate families can access short-term, professional counselling for work or personal challenges.
  • School-Funded Service: This support is fully funded by Lowther Hall, ensuring staff can access it at no cost.
