Wellbeing

Student wellbeing is supported through a comprehensive pastoral care approach that ensures every girl is known and valued. A team of pastoral care staff, including Year Level Coordinators, school psychologists, nurses, and a Faith Coordinator, work closely with students to provide social, emotional, and psychological support. Regular surveys help tailor wellbeing program, and students also benefit from specialist health services, leadership opportunities, and structured activities that promote engagement, resilience, and personal growth.

Cross-Age Program

Multiple cross-age programs are in place to foster connection, leadership, and mentorship across year levels. The House system plays a key role, with students collaborating in inter-House competitions, fundraising initiatives, and performing arts events. Structured activities such as buddy programs between Year 8 girls and Prep to Year 6 girls, and leadership opportunities further strengthen relationships between younger and older students, creating a supportive and inclusive community where every girl feels valued and connected.

Student Voice

Formal structures are in place to ensure that students have regular opportunities to raise concerns and offer solutions to emerging challenges. These include the Student Representative Council, the Social Justice, Faith, Pride, and Sustainability Committees, as well as student-led assemblies where girls can share important messages. Camps

In Senior School, we tailor-make our camp experiences each year. Underpinned by our values and the development of the 12 Qualities of the Lowther Hall Girl, each camp is designed to meet the particular needs of the individual year level/student cohort. While we outsource locations for Senior School camps, they are run entirely by our staff. We know our girls, and we build and deliver camp experiences that will create maximum enjoyment and benefit for them.

Exchanges & Study Tours

Lowther Hall’s exchanges and study tours program embodies our commitment to educating the whole person for the whole of life. In an increasingly interconnected world, understanding diverse cultures, languages, and societies is a crucial life skill. Through this program, girls are given the chance to build their independence and confidence while exploring destinations such as France, Japan, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, and NASA in the USA. These experiences foster a broader perspective, promote personal growth, and encourage the development of valuable global connections, all of which are essential in preparing students for life beyond school.

Social Justice

Social justice is a key part of our ethos, encouraging students to become compassionate individuals who care about making a difference. Through the Social Justice Committee, led by student representatives from each year level, students work with the Deputy Principal and Principal to support local and global causes. The committee selects charities to fundraise for each year, and the School also supports global initiatives through events like Casual Clothes Day. Guided by our motto 'Non Nobis Solum' (not for ourselves alone), we empower students to recognise their responsibility to serve others and contribute to positive change in the world.

Alumnae from Lowther Hall frequently visit the school, sharing their professional experiences, offering insights into their chosen industries, and providing valuable advice on transitioning from school to the workforce.

Dynamic Learning Spaces Designed for Every Stage

Senior School at Lowther Hall features versatile classrooms that are specifically designed to meet the needs of students at each year level. For the younger years, classrooms are larger and intended for collaborative learning, where students can engage in group work and activities. As students progress to VCE, the classrooms are more tailored to smaller, focused sessions, reflecting the reduced class sizes due to the broader range of subjects available. Spaces can be flexible, with movable walls and glass doors that allow for both individual and group work. The VCE Study Space offers senior students a quiet area for independent study, while also providing an area for additional after-school academic enrichment programs to be delivered.
