Legacy of Learning: A bequest boost for our Scholarship Fund

Reverend Dr Helen Granowski devoted her life to the service of education.

Over a 30 year career she held positions as Principal at both St Hilda's School, Queensland (where, at the time of her appointment Helen was considered one of the youngest principals in Australia at age 32) and later at Canberra Girls Grammar. She held teaching positions at Sydney University within the Biochemistry Department, was the Head of Science at Meriden School in NSW and later became Community Education Officer in the NSW Centre for Education. Her own love of learning saw her complete a range of qualifications and degrees including a Master of Science and PhD in the Sociology of Education.

After a long-standing association with the Anglican Church Helen made the transition to ministry in Her late 50s. In 1992 she was amongst the first women ordained to the priesthood in Victoria. Helen's association with Lowther Hall began in 1997 and spanned almost 20 years. As member of the Scheel Council representing the Diocese. she assisted with the development of countless policies and programs that brought healthy prosperity and progression to Lowther Hall She assisted the functioning of the School through her educational and spiritual advice. often stepping in for Chapel or assisting pastorally when needed.

Reverend Dr Granowski's legacy now continues through her thoughtful bequest to the Lowther Hall Scholarship Fund. We are grateful for this act of generosity and the opportunities it will provide for future students to benefit from an education at Lowther Hall. We thank you, Helen.
