If you have been to a performance in the Cultural Centre where the girls have used microphones, visited the Reflection Space and Chaplain’s Office or walked across the bridge linking the Noelene Horton Centre to the Mansion, then you have already seen some of the wonderful projects which have been funded by past Lowther Hall Twilight Festivals. This week, we are officially launching the 2018 Festival, and I am confident that it is going to be spectacular! A great deal of work has already gone into the planning of stalls and entertainment and we are particularly looking forward to spreading out the rides across the new grassed area adjacent to Raymond House and the multipurpose court, giving plenty of space to move around and a chance to provide a range of rides for all ages!

Families who have attended the previous Twilight Festivals will remember what a wonderful community feeling is generated, particularly as we gather together at the end of the night to watch the fireworks off the roof of the Mansion – a sight to behold! This year, funds raised from the Festival will support a Centenary Sculpture to be commissioned in celebration of the School’s one hundred year anniversary in 2020. I will look forward to keeping you updated about the engagement of a sculptor once we have finished initial interviews with appropriate candidates.

Once again this year we will be asking families to support the Festival through the selling of one book of 5 raffle tickets ($10 each). There are also many opportunities for parents to get involved in a hands on way, by assisting with preparations for the big night, or by volunteering on the evening itself. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for families or businesses who are in a position to support the Festival financially. Please see the information further on in the Bulletin for specific details, or, come to the information session TONIGHT, to get involved straight away.

I would like to thank Mrs Maria Englezakis, this year’s Festival Coordinator, and the other members of the Parents and Friends’ Association Committee who have already dedicated a great deal of time to preparing our 2018 Festival. I am sure it will be a wonderful event once again.
